Occupation: Professional Athlete
Do you have a favourite race?
The Mississippi Blues Marathon in Jackson, Mississippi and my favourite race in Canada is the Mississauga Marathon. I won it in 2017 and placed second in 2018.
Tell us something not many people know about you.
I’m a determined and disciplined person.
What advice would you give to someone considering taking up elite running?
Be optimistic, have a positive mind-set and focus on the race.
Who in the sport today do you look up to?
What do you to compliment your training?
I normally do interval training. During speedwork, I do intervals of different speeds, e.g 3K speed and 2 minutes jogging for 5 times which builds my speed resistance.
Could you recommend a running-related book (non/fiction), movie or podcast that you have found influential?
I normally prefer watching live streaming and reviewing past race videos–especially marathons. This helps me to learn from other athletes and to get tactics on how to win races.
Race morning routine?
I have two bananas and a cup of tea.
What do you do near the end of a race when you need a boost of motivation?
My husband and children by the finish line cheer me on. They make me feel motivated and strong so I run faster even when exhausted!
